Abstract

2 3 as colorless crystals, mp 145-150 OC (0.11 g), soluble in CHC13, together with a small amount (0.04 g) of the product 3,'O mp 225-227 OC. Since 3 is practically insoluble in CHC13, it is readily separated from 2. The'H and I3C NMR spectra indicate that the crude product 2 is a diastereomeric mixture (vide infra).
