Abstract
Abstract A new class of mesogenic compounds, the perhydroazulenes, carrying substituents in their para positions (HAZ derivatives), has been synthesized. The new liquid crystalline materials display a broad enantiotropic nemantic mesophase slightly above room temperature without any additional smectic phase.
