Abstract

(7). The reaction is rapid and is complete in 15 min at 0" C, and the keto sulfones (Table I) were obtained in almost quantitative yield. The sulfonyl group is removed cleanly by standard procedures: Al/Hg, 6B THF-H20 (lOl), 75" C, 2 h or Na/Hg, 5b Na2HP04, dry CH30H, 25 OC, to provide a variety of labeled ketones in 70-90% yield. 6 These methyl-14C ketones have been used as such or can be further elaborated into more complex ...
