Abstract

I na cryogenic study of the thermodynamics of hydrogen bond formation in the previously described adduct1 of triethylamine (TEA) and methylene chloride (PIC), we encountered an unexpected reaction at room temperature that yielded chloromethyltriethylammonium chloride (1).
