Abstract

Polyphilic bent-core liquid crystals with carbosilane termini show fluid chiral superstructures, which can be frozen into the glassy state. For one compound, chirality was switched under an applied electric field with a special waveform. Moreover, a reversible transition from antiferroelectric switching with inversion of chirality to ferroelectric switching with retention of chirality is reported.
