Abstract: This paper describes syntheses of NAD'(la) and NADP'(lb) that use traditional synthetic methodology in conjunction with enzyme-catalyzed reactions. The key intermediate, nicotinamide mononucleotide (0-NMN, 4), is prepared in two steps from ribose 5-phosphate (5).
