Abstract

Four new tetramethylguanidino-substituted pyrylium and thiopyrylium salt dyes have been prepared and their absorption maxima in the visible region measured. The positions of the absorption maxima are similar to those observed for thiopyrylium salt dyes used in photoconductive film compositions. The λmax values for the new dyes, when compared to those of other pyrylium and thiopyrylium dyes in the literature, yield a σ p value of-0.86± ...
