Abstract

Conclusion Tris (imidazo1e)-containing phosphines such as 3 or 4 when compared to Zn2+ provide modest catalysts for the hydrolysis of pNPP. They are from 2 to 10 times more active than either ligand alone or Zn2+ alone, and their catalytic activity increases as a function of pH.
