Abstract
The principal photochemical reaction of Ph2P (O)–NMe3 in dimethyl sulphoxide or methanol is rearrangement to Ph2P (O) NHCH2NMe2 which subsequently decomposes to give the amide Ph2P (O) NH2; rearrangement also occurs with PhCO–NMe3but is apparently not the major reaction pathway
