Abstract: The exchange of allyl propionate with acetate in acetic acid to give allyl acetate has been found to obey the following rate expression:-d [allyl propionatelldt=[LizPdzCldallyl propionate]/[LiCl](k'+ k'[LiOAc]). Unsymmetrical allylic propionates such as crotyl and 3- buten-2-01 propionates exchange and undergo allylic isomerization simultaneously.
