Abstract

A reaction of N, N-disubstituted hydrazones (1) with bases has been investigated. N-Methyl- N-tosylhydrazones of aliphatic carbonyl compounds have been shown to combine with primary and some secondary aliphatic amines to form α-aminodialkyldiazenes (2) hitherto unknown, and with triethylamine and alcoholic solutions of alkalies to form symmetric azines (10). Some structural factors contributing to the formation of 2 have been elucidated.
