Abstract
Preparation/of 1, J,-dintethoxydurene. One gram of 1, 4-dimethoxy-2; 5-dichloromethyl-3, 6- dimethylbenzene12 was refluxed for 4 hr. with an excess of lithium aluminum hydride in 25 m!. of absolute ether. The unchanged lithium aluminum hydride was decomposed with ethyl acetate and then the metal complex was destroyed with water.
