Abstract
Abstract A new method for deprotecting tetrahydropyranyl ethers has been established by using a bentonitic earth. The reaction proceeds selectively under mild conditions in good yields. The heterogenous reaction enables easy separation of the parent hydroxyl functionality by simple filtration. The synthesis of farnesylhydroquinone as a synthetic application of the method is also reported.
