Abstract
The major product isolated from the treatment of thiomethoxymethyl hexachloroantimonate (II) with potassium t-butoxide is 3, 5, 5-trimethyl-1, 3-oxathiolanium hexachloroantimonate (V). Experiments designed to elucidate the mechanism of this process are described along with the reactions of II with some other representative nucleophiles.
