Abstract

Several years ago 1-t-butyl-3-cyanoguanidine'(1) was found to have appreciable hypotensive activity in a random screening test carried out in normotensive rats.* Since the simple unbranched homologs were devoid of activity, and we were not aware of any reported hypotensive activity for cyanoguanidines. we* et out to prepare a number of analogous compounds.
