Abstract
Abstract Reaction of MgEt 2 with CO gives Et 2 CO, Et 2 CHOH, EtCOCH (OH) Et, EtCOCHEt 2 and EtCOC (OH) Et 2. The qualitative and quantitative composition of the product mixture was found to be dependent on the MgEt 2 concentration and the polarity of solvent. The kinetic results reveal that reaction of CO with MgEt 2 and with its dissociation product MgEt 3−, followed by the formation of the Et 2 CO and EtCOCHEt 2, respectively. The other ...
