Abstract

These dyes were spin-coated onto glass plates using 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propanol as a solvent to form noncrystalline-solid-dye films. They were colored, transparent, uniform, but dark when placed between crossed polarizers. These characteristics are typical of amorphous solids or so-called organic glasses.
