Abstract
-CH3, -COOH and -CH(CHa)CHO as the substituent groups. This aldehydo-acid appears to have two tautomeric forms (a) an enol form in which the aldehyde-containing substituent exists as -C(CHI)=CHOH, and (b) a bicyclic hydroxy- lactone that yields a neutral acetate with acetic anhydride.
