Abstract
Even under neutral conditions the self-condensation of cyclohexanone can be directed at high pressure (5OOO atm, and 100 OC) to yield dodecahydrotriphenylene Except for the latter hydrocarbon@), the only other condensed ring system obtained from cyclohexanone prior to 1950 was a trimer (C18H2802, mp 186" C) presumed by Cornuberta in 1927 to correspond with structure 6.
