Abstract

June, 1932 PHENYL SUBSTITUTED ALIPHATIC ACIDS 2515 g. of 8-naphthol and 5 g. of sodium hydroxide in 100 cc. of water. A red precipitate formed, which was filtered by suction and washed with water. A red crystalline product was obtained after crystallization from acetic acid; yield, 2 g. Anal. Calcd. for G~ H~ OON~: N, 7.00. Found: N, 6.67, 6.86.
