Abstract

Aldose reductase is an enzyme found in the eye lens and in a variety of other tissues which display diabetesassociated pathology in humans. 1-3 This enzyme has been implicated in diabetic cataract, and there has been increasing evidence of its involvement in other diabetic complications such as corneal wound healing defects, neuropathy, retinopathy, nephropathy, and platelet aggregation.
