Abstract Solvent effect upon asymmetric photosensitization has been investigated in the enantiodifferentiating photoisomerization of cyclooctene (1Z), sensitized by benzoate modified β-cyclodextrin derivatives bearing nitrogen, oxygen or sulfur substituents.
