Abstract

Summary The free radical-initiated reaction of ethylene with several halomethanes under superatmospheric pressure has been studied. Series of products of the general formula X (CHL! Hz). Y are obtained, in which X is hydrogen or halogen, and Y is the remainder of the halomethane molecule. The average chain length, n, varies inversely with the reactivity of the halomethane.
