Abstract

Abstract: Cross-coupling of 9, 10-dihaloanthracene with arylmagnesium halides gave polymers when catalyzed by PdCl2• dppb, but the expected 9, 10-diarylanthracene was obtained using NiCl2• dppp as the catalyst. The latter procedure was developed into a largescale preparation of 9, 10-dichloroanthracene. Key words: diarylanthracene, cross- coupling, chlorination, palladium, nickel
