Abstract: To gain an understanding of the electronic factors governing the addition of the carbon-aluminum bond (carbalumination) to unsaturated hydrocarbons, the mechanism of the addition of triphenylaluminum to the triple bond of para-substituted diphenylacetylenes was investigated.
