Abstract

Substitution of chlorine by fluorine in organic compounds by means of antimony tri-or pentafluoride (Swarts reagent) has been reported. 3 The use of this reagent, however, is limited so far to certain types of organic chlorine compounds. In general, only polychloro compounds bearing at least two chlorine atoms at the same carbon atom react, for instance, groups like-CC13,-CHC& and> CC12.
