Abstract

Mono-and binuclear palladium (II) complexes derived from 2-hydroxymethybenzyl halides and from 2-halogenobenzenealkanols have been characterized and studied in relation to the formation of benzolactones, including 3-isochromanone 1, by catalytic carbonylation. Crystal structures of seven complexes are reported.
