Abstract

A rational synthesis for dibenzo [fg, op] naphthacene derivatives (also named as dibenzopyrene) is described. The methodology involves the preparation of a quaterphenyl using a palladium-catalysed cross-coupling of arylboronic acids followed by chemical or photochemical cyclization.
