Abstract

Abstract The synthesis of the new 1-ethyl-5, 6-dimethyl-7-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-1, 4- dihydro-4-oxo-1H-pyrrolo [3, 4-b] pyridine-3-carboxylic acid (12) was carried out using ethyl 4-amino-2-methyipyrrole-3-carboxylate as the starting material. Compound 12 was devoid of antibacterial activity in vitro.
