Abstract
The synthesis of the marine alkaloid hyellazole and the non-natural regioisomer isohyellazole is reported starting from the tricarbonyliron-complexed cyclohexadienylium cation and the fully functionalized arylamines by electrophilic aromatic substitution and oxidative cyclization.
