Abstract

A novel stereospecific synthesis of biologically active ether phospholipids is reported. The synthesis is based on (1) the use of L-glyceric acid as the chiral center for the construction of the optically active phospholipid molecule,(2) the introduction of the"-short chain alkyl substituent via silver tetrafluoroborate catalyzed alkylation reaction that leaves the neighboring carbomethoxy group unaffected, and then elaboration of the lipophilic alkoxy ...
