Abstract

A series of Zn2+–2, 2′-dipicolylamine (Zn2+–DPA) coordination complexes with an attached NBD fluorophore are synthesized and evaluated as fluorescent sensors. The sensors do not respond to vesicles composed of zwitterionic phosphatidylcholine, but the NBD fluorescence emission is enhanced in the presence of anionic vesicles.
