Abstract

Abstract: Various S-methyl dithiocarbonates of tertiary and secondary alcohols are readily deoxygenated in high isolated yields by radical deoxygenation with di-n-butylphosphine oxide and various radical initiators in boiling dioxane. Primary alcohols react similarly in boiling xylenes.
