Abstract

Summary: Diethylaluminum chloride promotes 1, 4-cycloaddition of a, o-unsaturated carbonyl compounds with isocyanides to afford unsaturated N-substituted iminolactones, which are stereoselectively converted to y-butyrolactones via hydrogenation on Pd/C and then acid hydrolysis.
