Abstract

Photochlorination of a, a-dihydroperfluoroalkyl perfluoroalkanoates at 100-140 gave 90% of the corresponding a, a-dichloro ester distillable in vacuo. Thermal or catalytic cracking of the e, a-dichloro ester gave two perfluoro acid chlorides (same or different) in high yield. Reaction of the a, a-dichloro ester with water, amines, or alcohols gave an equivalent of the two corresponding acids, amides, or esters. The a, a-dichloro ester is, in effect, a dimeric ...
