Abstract
The rearrangement of 3,'i-dibrorno-1, 2, 5, 6-dibenz-1, 5-cyclooctadiene (I) to l-methylene-2, 3, 6, 7-dibenzcycloheptatriene (11) on dehydrobromination by amines was described in a previous commu-nication.'This paper reports a study of the dehydrobromination of compounds related to I and I1 designed to determine the step at which molecular rearrangement occurs. 3-Bromo-1, 2, 5, 6-dibenz-1, 5-cyclooctadiene (VIII), 7-bromo-l, 2, 5 ...
