Abstract

Bengacarboline 1 a marine alkaloid, extracted from the Fijian ascidian Didemnum sp. has been described six years ago by Ireland and co-workers. [1] This alkaloid is an inhibitor of topoisomerase II and displays an in vitro toxicity with a mean of 0.9 µg/mL (0.4 µmol/mL) toward 26 cell line tumor panel.
