Abstract
Deoxygenative chlorination is an important method for the conversion of organic molecules with oxygen functionalities to their chlorides.'The reaction of carbonyl compounds with PCl,, or WCl, is a well-known route to vinyl chlorides, gem-dichlorides or 1, 1, 2-tri~ hlorides.~ However, the direct conversion of carbonyl compounds into organic halides has been largely unexplored.
