Abstract

• Systemic infusion of 3-NP increased ROS and led striatal cell loss. • ASK1 down-regulation decreased striatal cell death without scavenging ROS. • Adding ASK1protein to SOD tg aggravated striatal degeneration. • ASK1 activation induced by ROS is an important step of the 3-NP pathophysiology.
