Abstract

Abstract: The preparation of 3-substituted benzofurans from a-phenoxy acetophenones and related compounds using clay under microwave irradiation is described. The inexpensive, reusable clay and non-solvent reaction conditions are the important features of the procedure. Key words: cyclodehydration, substituted 3-phenylbenzofurans, KSF clay, Microwave irradiation, solvent free condition
