Abstract
Carboxylic acids and their derivatives such as esters are abundant in nature and thus are good raw materials for the production of alcohols. However, the reduction of esters using stoichiometric hydride reagents such as LiAlH 4 , LiBH 4 , DIBAL-H is still a difficult reaction.1 In contrast, metal-catalyzed methodologies are generally more selective and more tolerant towards functional groups.2 Hydrogenation is indeed the representative methodology for the reduction of ...
