Abstract

Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer diagnosis in women worldwide and the most common cause of death from cancer. In the United States, 21% of breast cancers are diagnosed in women younger than 50 years of age, affecting almost 49,000 women, and this disease remains a leading cause of death.1 The most common form of breast cancer is hormone-receptor–positive disease, and the incidence of this subtype, particularly among younger women, has increased in the past decade, probably owing to changes in lifestyle factors and diet.
