Abstract
Acyclovir [1, 2] and ganciclovir [3-5] are the most well-known representatives of the acyclic analogs of nucleosides and exhibit a powerful virus-inhibiting effect with respect to a broad spectrum of herpes viruses. The pyrimidine analogs of acyclovir [6-11] and ganciclovir [12- 14] do not display appreciable antiviral activity, since they do, not play a role in the substrates of virus-specific enzymes [15].
