Abstract
Regiospecific alkylation of 1, 2, 4-triazoles provides a synthetic challenge. 2 Direct alkylation of 1, 2, 4-triazole affords usually a mixture of mainly 1-and some 4-substituted pr~ duct.~ Ratios vary with the nature of the alkylating agent and conditions but frequently range from 70: 30 to 9010. Preparation of 1-substituted 1, 2, 4-triazoles has become important of late, as a number of such triazoles has been found to be very effective agricultural fungicides? ...
