Abstract

Early in the history of barbituric acid synthesis, a fe. w 2-thiobarbiturates were prepared for the purpose of converting them into the corresponding oxygen analogs. In fact, Fischer and Dilthey2 reported the preparation of 5, s-diethyl-% thiobarbituric acid in their original paper in 1904.
