Abstract

Following a description of its use as a protective group on nitrogen2 the carbo-t-butoxy group has been shown to possess a number of advantages over other blocking functions, 3-- j particularly in the synthesis of sensitive nitrogen compounds. 6a~ b Because of the instability of t-butyl chloroformate'it has been necessary to develop special procedures for the introduction of the carbo-t-butoxy group.
