Abstract

The two geometrical isomers of 1, 3-dichloro-2-fluoropropene have been prepared and characterized. The assignment of configuration was made by a comparison of the relative reactivity of the two isomers toward potassium iodide in acetone. In addition to the 1, 3- dichloro-2-fluoropropenes the following compounds were prepared and characterized: the 3- bromo-lchloro-2-fluoro-1-propenes and the 3-chloro-2-fluoro-2-propen-l-ols.
