Abstract

The reaction of phosphonic aldehydes with benzylamine in presence of NaBH3CN yields benzylaminoalkylphosphonates which, submitted to catalytic hydrogenation, lead to phosphonic amino esters. When reductive amination is carried out with H2/Pd reduction and debenzylation are observed simultaneously.
