Abstract

The position of the nucleus chlorines was established by preparing 2, 4-dichloroaniline from the above substance. A small portion was heated for 2 hours with 10% sodium hydroxide solution, and the oil repeatedly washed with water. After solidification, it was recrystallized from 50% aqueous alcohol and gave finally long needlelike crystals of 2, 4-dichloro-aniline, melting at 61-62'(uncorr.). 6
