Abstract: The reactions of propane-1-diazotic acid (1) and optically pure (S)- 1- phenylethanediazotic acid (2) are investigated in [180] H20 at near neutral (pH 7.0-8.5) and basic (pH> 14) conditions. At near neutral pH, 1 yielded 1-and 2-PrOH (2: 1), with both alcohols showing complete incorporation of I8O from solvent.
